General Class Information:
- Students are encouraged to bring their own sewing machine. If you don't have one, please let us know in advance and we can have one available for you to use during class.
- Our classes are small so pre-registration is required.
- When you register for a class, we will give you a supply list so you'll know what to bring to the class.
- If you purchase your class supplies from The Wooden Spool, you will receive 10% off those class supplies.
- Please note: Some classes do require that you have the pattern and fabric pieces cut out prior to class.
Class Cancellation Policy: If you cancel a class two weeks prior to the class you will receive a full refund. Students will receive store credit if they cancel a class less than two weeks prior to the class.
Private Sewing Lessons
We are more than happy to meet with you one-on-one to help you learn a specific sewing technique or work through a specific sewing project. Private sewing lessons will be held at the shop, when the shop is open. Call or stop in the shop to schedule.
Cost: $30.00 per 1.5 hours
Introduction to Machine Sewing with Amber Hewitt
This class will be offered on the following dates. Students should choose one to attend.
Tuesday, October 4th, 6:00pm to 8:00pm
Tuesday, November 1st, 6:00pm to 8:00pm
Tuesday, December 6th, 6:00pm to 8:00pm
This class is for beginners who want to learn how to operate a sewing machine. In this class you will learn basic sewing terminology and sew one pillowcase. The pattern instructions will be provided at the beginning of class. Make one in the class and then take the instructions home to sew some up for yourself or gifts!
Introduction to Quilting with Mary Roediger
Saturday, October 15th and October 22nd, 1:00pm to 4:00pm
This class will meet three times and students will learn how to
sew a quilt measuring approximately 29” x 34”. The cost of this class includes
a charm pack for students to use to make the quilt top.
Students will learn basic quilting terms and techniques including
how to quilt using your sewing machine and how to bind the quilt pieces
together once quilted. Students will be required to purchase
batting, backing, and binding. Students must have a working knowledge
of their sewing machine prior to attending these classes.
Pillow with Decorative Piping Cord with Amber Hewitt
Tuesday, November 15th, 6:00pm to 8:30pm
Learn how to create an envelope pillow with piping cord! Students will learn how to
attach bias strips to piping cord and sew the covered piping to the pillow.
The cost of this class includes an 18” x 18” pillow form.
Patchwork Tote Bag with Mary Roediger
Saturday, November 12th, 1:00pm to 3:30pm
Students will make a tote bag measuring approximately 14” x 11.5”.
This would make a great gift bag or everyday tote bag.
Cost for this class includes a Christmas themed mini-charm pack and an 8” quilting ruler.
